Over a period of 13 months Julia Clay and Geppe Monrós traveled 39,000km through 24 countries across the European continent exploring, investigating and documenting abandoned places and the ways that they have been conserved, modified, recycled, occupied or forgotten.

Examples of sites visited include; Soviet nuclear missile bases, vast industrial areas, hospitals and mental asylums, ancient settlements, cinemas, synagogues and cave monasteries, submarine bases, military barracks, museums, war zones, palaces, swimming pools, schools, whole towns, state farms and much more.

On their journey they met a wealth of interesting people who conserve, reuse or study the reuse of abandoned places as well as those who document and explore them.
